The MLT-D108 cartridges are used in numerous Samsung printers, including but not limited to the ML-1640, ML-2240 and ML-2241. All of these models were introduced between April and June 2008, print at either 16 or 22 pages per minute (ppm) and have duty cycles from 5,000 to 8,000 pages per month.
Printers ship with starter cartridges that do not require chips for proper printer operation. However, to be converted for use as a replacement cartridge a chip is required, as well as end plate modification or replacement. SD108 cartridges are similar to the ML-1610D2 and ML-2010D3 units, and can be converted for use in any of the related printers (refer to the Conversion Chart for the necessary components).
Samsung printers using MLT-D108 cartridges will not print without a new chip on the remanufactured cartridge. Printers utilizing the ML1610D2 or ML161D3 cartridges do not require a chip.
